Abstract

This dissertation aims at investigating the way ethical and traditional consumers manage their eco-labelled cosmetics purchases. In this qualitative research, six participants have been interviewed around different topics drawn upon the research questions and the literature review: cosmetics purchases patterns, understanding of the eco-label concept, cosmetics buying criteria and price premium. Then, a discourse analysis method has been used to explore the data collected.

The main findings of this thesis show that consumers who are aware of ethical issues are more likely to buy eco-labelled cosmetics. Moreover, the evidences prove that the concept of eco-labelling is not well-understood by consumers.
