AbstractThe management of legacy and low volume products is an important issue for many businesses. With companies fighting to remain competitive in the difficult economic climate, there arguably is an increased pressure to keep assets in service for longer and to increase the return on investment made in them. The result of this is that for companies supporting these products, there is an increased requirement for legacy components. The overall aim of this report is to critically review the supply chain management of legacy and low volume parts in Rolls-Royce and to compare this against the literature and cases form the literature in order to determine if there are improvements that could be made to the Rolls-Royce approach.
