Abstract

In the contemporary business environment the need for shorter execution time in a critical project has attracted many researchers and managers. Suitable answer to such critical projects is schedule management which not only monitors and organises activities but also predicts and controls uncertainties. The number of feasible schedules in a real project is typically large and exact analysis of each scheduling technique is difficult. Therefore, project managers have their liberty to choose scheduling method depending upon their interest and experience. But many findings suggest efficient scheduling techniques which consider project risk, reduced project time, resource constrain, project quality and budget into account. Current project assumes that the reader has prior knowledge of project and project management.

This paper reports the findings from experiences of people in DIAL T3 project. The project T3 was completed in a record time of 37 months. In this airport project highly parallel and time constrain activities were performed. The current project develops a case study on DIAL T3 project which tries to answer the question, “How did DIAL accomplish T3 project in record time of 37 months?” In answering the question the experiences of T3 project people from across different functional areas were considered. Based on their inputs, a discussion is carried out and potential recommendations are suggested for a similar project.
