Abstract

It has been one year since Beijing successfully hosts the 2008 Olympic Games. It needs to stress the economic impacts of the city as the Olympic effect could boost economy of Beijing a long and lasting growth. In this paper, a large number of academic articles are reviewed given a general view of these impacts and put insights into the economic impacts of previous host cities. Both positive and negative effects are mentioned with rich discussions. Based on the statistical data, growth trend on various economic components such as GDP, Tourism industry and employment are formed. Different time ranges could help to stress the Games effect on economic growth and the make proper assumptions on the post-Olympics changes. Further discussion arises regarding different Olympic legacies.
