Abstract

This dissertation takes an in-depth look at the issues related with�Outsourcing Destinations, in particular America and India. It discusses the areas to be analyzed before selecting an outsourcing destination, which affect operational performance within that country. It offers a direct comparison between India and America as Outsourcing destinations in terms of Infrastructure, Government policies, etc. The report also answers a growing global debate. Outsourcing all good?

The project involved inquiring the nature of India and America, as outsourcing destinations. This was carried out by going through a large array of literature written about the same in the form of books, journals, articles. There were also some primary data collected from some Indian Companies, via interviews and e-mail. The results answered the following queries:

1. A complete guide to choosing an outsourcing destination in terms of the issues, which have to be considered for success.

2. A direct comparison between India and America as Outsourcing Destinations on the basis of some selected objectives.

3. The future of outsourcing in India and America.

4. The future of outsourcing as a global trade trend.

The key findings highlight the issues to be considered and analyzed before choosing an outsourcing destination, taken from a model proposed by the European Information Technology Exchange. They act as a guide to someone in the process of choosing a prospective outsourcing destination. The theme of outsourcing destination is further carried forward in terms of a comparison and analysis of the future of India and America, as global outsourcing destinations. The comparison ends at a wake-up call for America and a bright future for India. Finally, the report ends with an analysis of outsourcing, criticizing it for it disadvantages that can often surpass the superficial benefits, for most small organizations.

The dissertation enabled me to develop a clear understanding of outsourcing process and the problems being encountered by companies, when shifting operations to a new outsourcing destination. This serves to be a potential guide to students, young managers and businessman, looking to study the phenomenon of outsourcing destinations.
