Abstract

This Nottingham University MBA individual project is one part of group internship project in support of the Functional Excellence Project in Rolls Royce (RRS).

The objective of this project is to find out the significance between the organizational model and ERP performance by exploring the interaction process between the two. In order to achieve this objective, four steps are taken for the case study procedure. First, the ERP structure and other sources of social structures in RRS are identified. Second step is to identify the ERP appropriation or adaptation process which can be seen as the cycle of misalignment with the initial intent of ERP structure. In the third step, the reasons why the misalignment occurs are discussed which focus on the organizational social structures influencing human in their interaction with ERP. In the final step, I review the outcome of the appropriation process to show its negative impact on ERP performance because of the existing misalignment. Conclusion is consequently made that the organizational structures have the impact on the effectiveness of ERP performance. In order to maximize the benefits of ERP system, a list of recommendation is finally put forward aiming at removing the misalignment factors.
