How can silo mentality impact inter-departmental collaboration within an IVF unit?Tools Stringer, Christie (2019) How can silo mentality impact inter-departmental collaboration within an IVF unit? [Dissertation (University of Nottingham only)]
AbstractWithin the 21st century, it has become increasingly important for organisations to work collaboratively if they are to meet societal goals and expectations. Successful collaboration is recognised as a necessity in providing effective patient care. Yet, working within silos can present many challenges including a breakdown in communication, co-operation and co-ordination with external parties. Silos can naturally appear, especially within organisations which adopt a functional structure where employees of separated on the basis of their professional background, skills and levels of expertise. The consequences of a silo mentality can lead to a lack of integration across all units, blocking information and knowledge sharing which damages the organisation’s ability to collaborate.
