Abstract

3D printing, as a kind of state-of-art technology, has drawn massive attention from people and its versatility has been proved in many sectors theoretically. Some researchers have proposed that 3D printing will revolutionize the food sector and supply chain industry respectively. However, the impact aroused by 3D printing on food supply chains has not been broadly investigated. Therefore, this dissertation takes a Chinese confectionery company, Cakeking, as an example, discusses the current status of Chinese 3D printing market and confectionery market firstly, investigates opportunities and challenges that Cakeking currently possesses internally and externally secondly, and arrives at how 3D printing can impact on the supply chain of Cakeking at last. After that, some suggestions for future researches are also given for the purpose of stepping deeper into this area.
