Abstract

This dissertation thoroughly analyses relevant literature regarding three management topics. Additionally, it conducts a qualitative case-study research on a particular radical innovation performed by a local award winning company. The aim is to present a new alternative for managing and improving radical innovations by the interrelation of up-to-date ideas.

Historical evolution of different fields can be seen to have influenced innovation towards viewing networks as the fundamental economic approach to improve standards and increase the quantity of innovative processes. The dissertation analyses three topics that are central to the debate: 1) Evolution of marketing paradigms 2) industrial organization networks, and 3) innovation.

When considered in parallel, the historical development of these complementary topics helps show similarities and areas of agreement suggesting some a congruent approach to current business processes, specifically radical innovations. This study ratified, by conducting a thorough analysis of a radical innovation performed by Company X, several of the arguments previously stated in literature. Furthermore, it presents conclusive arguments, managerial recommendations, and the proposition of a new conceptual model to approach radical innovations within a network by employing an S-D logic perspective.
