Abstract

Abstract

Today there is a lot of importance attached to the phenomenon of global warming. Global warning is not simply a rise in temperature but results into variability in the climate resulting into weather risk. Weather is no more an environmental issue, as it economic impact is visible in the day to day working of every business. Weather derivative is a recently developed tool which was developed in the US and is now becoming popular around the globe. This papers aims to examine a new and innovative financial product, Weather Derivatives and to understand its scope and emergence to the India weather market; with reference to Indian Agriculture, Energy and Tourism sector in particular.
