Abstract

The current dissertation's aim is to explore the relatively new and under development market of the Spin Off University Companies in Greece. FORTHnet is a leading company in Greek telecommunication market. The company took birth as a University spin off in 1995. Until now it is ranking number two in the Greek telecommunication market. The author attempts to examine an issue in which there is slightly bibliography related about. The investigation of the most probably thriving Greek university spin off has as an objective goal the awakening of the Greek academic community and the potential researchers entrepreneurs, in order to set the bases for further development of the spin off market. Living in a world where the strategic competitive advantage of each country emerges from its investments in education and research, FORTHnet stands as a bright Greek spin off model. This company should attract more light in the unstructured Greek modern market not as a random exception but as a way to manage a spin off in Greece. The author hopes the presented study not only to trigger a broader conversation among the Greek borders, but also influence and inspire future researchers to study deeper such a crucial business and an educational issue
