Abstract

This executive summary provides an overview of the 5-year business plan of Infostel in Malaysia. Infostel will start its first branch in Petaling street and expand to three branches in Kuala Lumpur by Year 5.

Infostel aims to cater to backpacker that can afford to pay for higher-than-average hostel price in return for experience, security, and comfort. Infostel does not compete by lower down the price as it attracts not only traveler but lower social class, foreign worker and nomads that wants to take advantage of cheap accommodation. Infostel strive to offer a comfortable, valuable, safe and social environment to be a attractive option for both domestic and international visitors.

The tourism industry has been dampened by the lock down of Covid-19. From 2022, there is a strong recovery and in 2023 is surprising pre-covid-19 level. In the macro-economy, Malaysia’s currency, Ringgit is at 5 years low against all major currency making Malaysia a attractive destination as it is perceived as cheaper now to visit Malaysia. Post-Covid-19 pandemic, digital nomad is on the rise and more jobs can be done remotely from anywhere in the world. This makes Malaysia a popular destination for digital nomad due to the affordability.

Infostel competitive advantage will be is strategic location in each of its hostel. Situated near to tourist attraction, restaurant and public transport will provide ease of convenience to its customer. Infostel strive to create a social atmosphere with caring staff in welcoming, work-exchange-staff to share their travel story and organize tour to enjoy Malaysia together with another guest. Safety and security is the priority of Infostel for her guest, hence traveler can expect high tech security are installed to create a safe atmosphere.

Infostel commercial strategy focuses on online presence to attract guest. Infostel will create a strong online presence in online booking platform and utilize search engine optimizer to expand reach to targeted customer segment. Infostel will collaborate with influencer to share their staying experience and encourage customer reviews to provide good feedback and constructive way to improve for us to do better.

On operation, Infostel has a great plan to start a new hostel every 2 year and remain sustainable and profitable. In the long run, Infostel will build a talent pipeline for its staff for their career progression and rotation Infostel will utilize technology and software on its reservation, communication and simplified administrative task.

Finally, Infostel has a great financial project to be profitable on the third year of operation, to be the choice of accommodation for backpacker who wants to have a sociable, safe and comfortable travel.
