Abstract

Attracting and recruiting top talent is very important to organisations globally. Recruitment of talent has become challenging in the new world of work after the start of COVID-19 pandemic as the employee expectations and perceptions have changed. Perceived organisational attractiveness plays an important role in recruitment. However, most of the existing research on organisational attractiveness is done in the western context before the pandemic. This study aims to fill this gap by investigating the influence of flexible working arrangements, managing diversity initiatives and corporate social responsibility on the perceived organisational attractiveness of prospective employees in Pakistan during COVID-19 pandemic.

A quantitative research was conducted. An online survey was distributed to 157 participants of working age across Pakistan. The participants were asked to respond to questions after reviewing fictitious job advertisements of four organisations (control organisation, organisation with corporate social responsibility initiatives, managing diversity efforts and flexible working arrangements).

The findings indicated that flexible working arrangements, managing diversity efforts and corporate social responsibility efforts in organisations enhanced the perceived organisational attractiveness of the firm amongst the prospective employees in Pakistani labour market during Covid-19 pandemic. Based on these findings, it is recommended that organisations increase their efforts in the direction of flexible working, managing diversity and corporate social responsibility and include information of their related policies and practices in their job advertisements to attract more prospective employees. Future research is required to assess the influence of other factors on perceived organisational attractiveness of prospective employees.
