Abstract

This study is an attempt of valuable contribution to the alternative investment market entry modes since it presents the case of Toro Capital, a Swiss-based company, willing to start its trading operations in the United States natural gas market. Having in mind the highly competitive business arena in this industry, it is of particular interest how a foreign company is able to enter the United States and benefit from similar advantages as local companies.

The main aims of this paper are to examine and explore the possible entry modes on the US natural gas market, to develop an understanding of the factors affecting demand and supply, and analyse forecasts so as to conclude whether the company will be successful in this particular industry.

Data has been interpreted through content analysis and documentary research, being available through secondary sources, which eased researcher’s access to information. Several recommendation are made taking into account the competitive business arena, leaving to Toro Capital’s top management to make a decision regarding the market entry strategy.
