Abstract

This Management Project analyses the listing process for Indian Companies on the Main Market (MM) and Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange.

With India emerging as a success story, foreign investors are looking for opportunities to invest in Indian firms. Many Indian companies, which earlier found it difficult to raise funds abroad, are now able to issue equity in the global market to access cheap capital. There are various options now available for Indian companies to raise funds overseas. This project focuses on the opportunities that the MM & AIM market of the London Stock Exchange offer to Indian companies.

There are many different products that can be listed and types of listing. The project paper focuses on Equity and listing through the Primary Market. In the analysis other listing process are briefly highlighted.

This paper uses a detailed case example of an Indian company accessing the capital market. An analysis is undertaken of equity listing requirements such as like eligibility and disclosure requirements, ongoing obligations and other compliance requirements of the UK Listing Authority (UKLA). The project simulates the detailed financial and additional information that would be needed for a listing in order to evaluate which market would be most appropriate for the company.
