Abstract

This management project takes us on an interesting journey into the Social Enterprise (SE) scene in Singapore by leveraging and using my nonprofit organization – Project: Senso Limited (aka SENSO) as a case study, as well as for future implementation.

What we want to achieve in this project is to structure and enable a social enterprise model that we can use towards becoming a high-performing social enterprise in Singapore. Understanding the various definitions and funneling down to a precise definition of a social entrepreneur is our first stop, as it will define our direction towards the formulation of the model.

This project will also take the opportunity to explore and understand the different SE climates beyond Singapore in areas of challenges, and how it might relates to similar obstacles within this country, that might be potential ‘stoppages’ for growth in Singapore social enterprise scene.

We will also explore factors of successful social enterprises with the aim to map over their success factors, for appropriate use in Singapore context, directed towards a high-performing social enterprise.

With a good understanding of the reality of the various obstacles and challenges in the scene, coupled with exploring the various success factors, we will move into recommending the elements within a business model that SENSO can adopt for implementation in tandem with its experience.

The conclusion at the end of the project will take us into the world of the various limitations of this project, areas for future research that could potentially open up new doors, and we will end with a reflection (i.e. summary) of the entire landscape in the world of Social Enterprise.
